Membrane Switches
Did you know that MSI also manufactures Membrane Switches?
Membrane Switch applications are a natural extension of the Graphic Polycarbonate and Polyester Overlays MSI has been producing for 15+ years. The concept combines the esthetic function of an overlay keypad with the functionality of membrane switch construction.
Membrane switches have a wide range of applications, from the gas pump keypads, to medical or fitness equipment controls, remote controls or soda dispensers.
The membrane switch is applied directly to a flat panel, just like a label, through the pressure sensitive adhesive surface applied on the back of membrane switch. The switch is electrically connected to the circuit, through a flexible “tail” ended with a connector, exactly as the components of a desktop computer.
Simple installation requirements, durability and effortless replacement due to the compact design, are just some of the reasons for the broad use of membrane switches.

MSI builds switches using the following construction solutions:
- Embossed keys
- Snap metal domes
- Shielding, where applicable
- Selective texture for optically clear LCD display windows and LED’s
- Metallic inks for special graphics
- Indigo printed four color process graphic overlays where applicable. The Indigo gives MSI the ability to let customers add as many colors as desired for no additional cost.

- Polyester-clear and textured
- Fr Lexan, for applications requiring anti-flammability rated materials
- Makrofol EPC (outdoor applications) polycarbonates
- 3M laminating adhesives
